DOROTHÉE SAUSSET: jewelry imbued with Indian culture

Passionate about Indian culture, it was in India that she decided to put down her suitcases and open her workshops to imagine delicate and meaningful jewelry. She loves strong symbols, inspired by this culture, to add spiritual protection and give another dimension to her jewelry

You will find the Rakhi , meaning “knot of protection”: one of the most important festivals celebrated by Hindus, which represents the brotherly relationship. The bracelet given at this festival tells the story of Yamuna who attached a Rakhi to her sister Yama.

Immediately moved by his gesture, the lord of death would have granted him immortality. This bracelet is a promise to a life of protection, love, care and affection between brothers and sisters. The red colored thread serves to strengthen the fire element, bringing strength and security.

The Thaali pendant is traditionally offered by a man to his wife during their engagement: a symbol of love, protection and harmony. It follows the principles of Vastu Shastra, a Hindu belief to create a symbiosis between architecture, nature, environment and consciousness.

For Hindus, the human being is a perfect model of the universe, composed of the 5 elements : earth, water, wind, fire and space. Each stone is based on Ayurveda medicine, which means "science of life", born more than 5000 years ago, and corresponds to the color of a chakra. Green onyx: the heart, citrine: the solar plexus, garnet: the sacred, moonstone: the crown, lapis: the 3rd eye.

The Mandala , "circle" in Hindu Tantrism, is a symbolic diagram used in sacred rites and as an instrument of meditation. It represents the universe and gathers its forces, it is a receptacle for the gods and a gathering point for universal forces. Mentally man moves towards his center and will be guided through the cosmic processes.

V DE VINSTER: Respect for materials and poetry.

Virginie De Vinster is an “ethnic chic” designer, a pioneer of “slow fashion”. She trained alone, "on the job", in the fashion professions by traveling around the world. Its collections are a real invitation to travel. Its key words: simplicity of forms, respect for materials and poetry. After experimenting with the art of weaving and working fifteen years in Africa, the globetrotter turned to India to experiment with other skills.

It is in India that she now has all her eco-responsible collections made. We find ancestral materials and processes such as Tie and Dye dyes, Indonesian Ikat prints, Block prints on long silk dresses, thread embroidery, knotting processes...
