Born in Milan, Massimo Nava was introduced to journalism at a very young age by joining the editorial staff of Avvenire at the age of nineteen. A graduate in literature and philosophy from the University of Milan, Nava then obtained a position at Corriere della Sera , the main Italian national daily. Over the next decades, he covered many notable conflicts around the world, worked as a correspondent in Paris, and wrote several nonfiction books and novels. Nava is currently a columnist at Corriere della Sera .
Oberto Gili started taking photos at a young age, but the idea of becoming a photographer came to him when he saw the film Blow-Up , by Michelangelo Antonioni. In the early 1970s he moved to London to work as an assistant to the photographer Michael Joseph, after which he moved to Milan to work for the publisher L'Esperto. Since then, he has traveled the world taking photos. Gili worked for Condé Nast, New York Magazine and the Washington Post Magazine .
