Description
Founded as a luxury leather goods company in 1854, Louis Vuitton has for many decades been one of the world's leading manufacturers of trunks and accessories. It was after the launch of its first fashion collections in 1998, however, that the house achieved unprecedented worldwide fame and launched high-level collaborations with artists such as Richard Prince, Takashi Murakami and Stephen Sprouse.
This book opens with a concise history of the house, followed by brief biographical profiles of Marc Jacobs, first creative director 1998-2014, and Nicolas Ghesquière, who now runs the brand, before exploring the collections themselves, organized chronologically. Each collection is introduced by a short text revealing its influences and strengths, and illustrated with carefully selected catwalk images. Featuring hundreds of spectacular clothes, details, accessories, beauty looks and sets - and, of course, the best models who wore them on the catwalk, from Naomi Campbell and Gisele to Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne. A rich reference section, including a complete index, concludes the book.
